Z-Smith Reynolds awards Sandhills Cooperation Association $50,000 to hire a New Business Coordinator

Troy, NC | June 23, 2022

The Z-Smith Reynolds Foundation has recently awarded the Sandhills Cooperation Association $50,000 to help hire a New Business Coordinator. This 2-year, contracted position will serve businesses in marginalized communities and will hopefully be able to help these businesses grow and thrive. The Community Progress Fund is designed to provide an infusion of short-term funding at the right moment, and this grant is intended to build on existing momentum to help move an issue or organization forward.

The Sandhills Cooperation Association is a nonprofit organization that seeks to increase prosperity and self-reliance in marginalized communities through new business creation and community organizing. SCA serves Montgomery, Moore, Randolph, Richmond, and Stanly counties, working with businesses, entrepreneurs, and community leaders to improve the quality of life in marginalized communities. This grant will allow SCA to hire a New Business Coordinator who will provide technical assistance and support to businesses in the communities serviced. This position will help these businesses grow and thrive by offering technical assistance, facilitating access to financial capital, and connecting businesses to available resources.

The position will be instrumental to the growth of our Innovative Action Center, our co-working and meeting space that is focused on business development and job creation. This is a critical piece of our work to increase economic mobility in the Sandhills.

We are excited to see what this New Business Coordinator will be able to achieve with the help of Z-Smith Reynolds' grant and we are grateful for their support.
